West Lothian Community Table Tennis Club Members Update on Team V, January 2023.
Team V remain at the top of the league only just – as we drew 5-5 in a hard match against Corstorphine IV where Tim Lahaya had improved dramatically from the first match, when we beat them 10-0.
In this match it was Tim, Jim Lee and Robert Hamilton. Mei took on Tim in the first of her games and had a hard fought 3-2 win which along with the doubles win for Martin and Neil was to prove crucial in getting the draw.
The match stood at 3-3 going into the doubles with a good win for Martin and Neil, considering Neil was recovering from a bout of Covid over the break. Martin secured the draw with a win over Jim Lee, but Mei struggled against Robert Hamilton, as with many Corstorphine players he kept the ball on the table lobbing it back high to pressure Mei into making the mistakes.
Our match next week is at home against Murrayfield X who we drew with 5-5 last time out.
The team will be Mei, Martin and Neil for this one. We will then have an away match on Friday 27th January against Edinburgh University VI.
