Now that the Edinburgh & Lothians Table Tennis season is finished, it’s time for a summary of where things finished at.
In the Premier Division.
Our Team 1 comprising Alicja, Dariusz and Dave finished in a very respectable 3rd place with 27 points and our young guns in Team 2 were only 2 places behind them in 5th place which is a tremendous outcome for their first season in the big league.
Special mention to young Ben Hart who was the top ranked WL player in the Premier Division, sitting in 4th place with a win rate of 85%.
In Division 2
Note (we had no team in Division 1 this year) WL 3 finished in joint 2nd (ranked 4th once goal difference is taken in to account) place on 32 points, only 1 point behind league winners HW University. A good season for Mark, Keith, Dave and Andrew.
Special mention to Mark Robertson, finishing 2nd in the individual rankings with an 88.9% win rate.
In Division 3
WL 4 finished in a very respectable 4th spot, a good showing from the two Tommys, Aiden and Kevin.
Tommy Toner is the best ranked individual with a win rate of 72.5%
We had 2 teams in Division 4, and huge congtratulations to WL 5 in winning the league with 33 points, a full 11 points ahead of their nearest challengers. Well done to Ian, Housman, Struan and Sid on a great season.
Our second team in the division WL 6 were pipped for second place in the very last match of the season, but still a great season for Matin, Mei and Bob.
Special mention to Sid Sharma in topping the individual rankings in Division 4 with a superb win rate of 96.7%, closely followed by Ian McLean on 93.9%.
Finally, in Division 5
WL 7 finished in second place to secure promotion to Division 4 for next season. Team Captain Michael O’Hara did a great job with player rotation to ensure everyone got the opportunity to play competitive table tennis.
Michael was also the top ranked WL player in the individual stats with an impressive in rate of 93.9%.
Special mention to Stuart Herschel in his first season playing competitive table tennis. Despite not managing a win in his debut season, Stuart remains as keen as ever to go again next season and is determined to get that first win on the board.
Well done to everyone this year and the pre-season survey is already released with a view to determining teams for next year.
At the Prize Giving evening of Edinburgh & Lothians Table Tennis and West Lothian Community Table Tennis Club were delighted to be amongst the award winners.
Huge congratulations to Ian, Struan, Sid and Housman of Team 5 for picking up top prize in winning Division 4, ably assisted on more than a few occasions by young Issac Wong.
Issac mainly played for WL 7 in Division 5, but played up enough times to warrant a winners pennant alongside Team 5. Issac also got a great runners up pennnant for Team 7’s second place in Division 5.
Well done to all the winners on the evening across the entire 6 divisions.
